CST Railway Station : An Architectural Brilliance

"Mumbai: The city that never sleeps" and the rich culture and architecture you find in here holds great history behind it. CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus), formerly Victoria Terminus (VT), the main railway station of Mumbai is a UNESCO approved World heritage site and it resides in the heart of the city. It was built in 1887 and was designed by the famous architect of that time “Frederick William Stevens”.

The structure of CST is a brilliant fusion of Victorian Gothic architecture and traditional Indian (or say traditional Mughal) architecture. It is one of the largest and busiest railway stations in India. It is an end terminal for both local trains and long distance trains. 

  

It’s a perfect example of architecture brilliance. It’s one such place in Mumbai which you cannot miss to witness during night time. In night time one can see the glowing beauty of its architecture when it’s lighten up in different colors on different occasions.

 

 

One can see its breathtaking view from the other side of the road, from where the whole station can be seen in panoramic wide angle. It’s that place in Mumbai which is unique and shows the rich architecture of 19th century. A place worth visiting!
