The life of a coconut!

The life of a coconut | Gangasagar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India

Look at my fragile body and you'll see that I have lived my life and now lying alone for a peaceful end.Life was quite different when I was up there along with my mates, the view we used to get from there of the beach and the sea was actually a treat to our eyes. But somehow it all ended! Someone plucked me from my home (tree) and took me to a place, where I never belonged. Later he sold me to someone, who kept me for days and then one day when he saw my faded body, he threw me to the place where it all started (my home i.e. tree). And this is how it all ended! And this is why I'm lying here alone!

  1. Aww.. It's sad to see from its perspective but from my perspective, what would this fruit do up there? It's good it came down and could be of any good to us! :P :D

  2. That's sad. I hope the person drank the juice before throwing away the coconut shell. Jokes apart, coconut trees are called kalpavriksha, so I hope the coconut shell was proud of its existence while it spread joy through its useful life.

    1. Oh..I didn't know that "Kalpavriksha" fact. Thanks for sharing the knowledge :) So,as the name suggests the meaning of Kalpavriksha is "wish-fulfilling tree", I guess it changes the whole perception thing about Coconut's life.

Thanks for stopping by and reading this post! And specially for sharing the knowledge! :)

  3. Eco-friendly story! So the tree grew & there were many coconuts & hopefully coconut trees :)

  4. I can understand the coconut's perspective lying alone, far away from his likes, on the ground. No doubt its life is fragile but it is going to further contribute to the nature by decomposing.

    1. I agree, it still has a lot to give to mother nature.

  5. What a nice autobiography! We all are here because of Mother Earth, and when we die, we will return to Earth. That is our cycle of life. Nicely expressed through this metaphor!

  6. Hi Saumy. Such a lovely reflection. It's almost poetic and it reminds me of a verse I had written which was inspired by a tiny coconut I stumbled upon the footpath during one of my late morning walks.
